Light Pipes |
|
 |
| Light pipes are used as distribution systems for
general lighting and for architectural highlighting
Light pipes are also ideal for hazardous and dangerous environments;
the “photon only” distribution system has zero
fire risks. |

Solar Hybrid – Blending
Artificial with Natural Sunlight
Managed distribution of light which can be blended with
collected natural sunlight, networked through out an entire
building enables daylight for everyone in the building
24 hours a day, no windows needed, thus ideal for underground
applications.
Even distribution of light is possible with pipes up to
40m long (20m from a single PI-VL1 1000W lamp).
Light pipes are really only practical
and viable when used with powerful collimated light sources,
such as possible with Sulphur Plasma. The unique combination
of shape, size and power of the Plasma-i Tesla lamps make
them best suited for production of far reaching collimated
light. The focussing required is simply not possible with
conventional HID lamp shapes. |

A standard light pipe is 250mm in diameter and
comes in 3m sections. Flat packed and very lightweight, unassembled
they look much like sheets of thin white plastic.
The inner surface prismatic film is highly reflective to
light striking the surface of the film at certain angles,
and is transmissive
(allowing light to pass through) at other angles. By injecting
collimated light into the light pipe the light will reflect
off the inside walls of the light pipe travelling away
from the source.
